How To Quit Smoking - What Is A Look At Smoking Control
This is an article on the methods to set your mind to the correct place so that you make a very knowing decision to stop smoking. This is really a determination that if you engage your brain it just does not make any sense to continue with your smoking at all. By forming a plan and following it and by knowing what you are going to get as a payoff for stopping this habit you will cause yourself and remind yourself even when you are tempted that the goal is so much more for quitting the habit than to carry on with a way of life that is costing you dearly both financially and health wise.
I never thought I would be able to quit my smoking addiction. It seemed like I was always waiting until the pressure in my life was at a minimum to begin to stop and of course that just never seemed to happen. I used my smoking as an anxiety reliever and I just didn't know what to substitute it with. I was afraid of gaining weight and it seemed like every time I stopped smoking or even attempted smoking control, I replaced my smoking with eating and as soon as I saw a weight increase over five pound I was once again smoking.
It was not simple but I started some smoking control by replacing other activities and habits for times when I would usually smoke. When I decided that I had to quit the smoking habit I started with a list of pros and cons for my judgment to smoke or to stop. In other words what I was getting out of smoking and then the cons to keeping my smoking habit. Of course the pros far outweighed the cons. The financial and health costs of a smoking habit makes the decision to maintain one you cant really justify in any sense except for the fact that as a smoker this is a habit that you savor.
After I made my list I hung this list up on my bathroom mirror and also on my bedroom door. I wanted everyday to see my reasons for changing my behavior this aided a lot since quitting smoking is a decision one has to establish day by day. When you stop smoking you have to presume there will be times when you will slip but in the times past that I backslid, I just accepted failure and started smoking full steam ahead. This time if I slipped and bought a pack of cigarettes or smoked one I begged from a friend I allowed myself forgiveness for not being perfect and started right back up.
When ever I saw the bathroom scales go up I made sure to go to the gym more and not to rearrange eating with smoking. I also rewarded myself by pampering myself with anything I normally would not do for myself. Any time I pay attention to careful smoking control my cigarette consumption always goes down. I will not say that I do not think about smoking occasionally and very likely always will but I also tell myself that what you save is both health and money. Your clothes don't smell like smoke your hair doesn't reek of smoke and you can better enjoy the food you eat. You can also put the hard cash you would have used for buying smokes into a bank account and watch it grow.
